Piranha Racewerks is proud to announce another in-house designed, manufactured and tested product, this time we bring you a much needed upgrade to the limited factory MAP sensor by means of an adapter for the factory intake manifold and a 3, 3.5 and 4 bar MAP sensor.
The adapter is made of T6061 billet aluminum and includes an o-ring to make a perfect air tight seal to the manifold, with each adapter comes an extended bolt which goes through one of our Bosch sourced MAP sensors (you select which bar rating you wish to use) and one replacement bolt for the factory one you remove.
The Bosch MAP sensors are as you would expect high quality and were sourced from BMW, AUDI and Benz applications, the 4 bar sensor is a Bosch design however not produced by Bosch, these MAP sensors are direct plug-n-play with the OEM connector so no wiring is required making these the only MAP sensors sold for the genesis that are plug-n-play.
So why would you want to upgrade your MAP sensor?
Upgrading your MAP sensor is a requirement when adding a big turbo if you are boosting higher than the limit of the stock MAP sensor which is 2.5bar (2.5bar is 36.25psi - 14.70psi (atmospheric pressure) = 21.55psi MAX).
The way MAP sensors work you have to subtract 1bar from the number of bar that is the MAP sensors MAX bar rating, so for example a 4bar map sensor max PSI is 58psi minus 1bar (14.70psi) gives you a MAX psi rating of 43.3psi as seen on a boost gauge or Haltech gauge.
Note: These map sensors must be calibrated in your factory ECU by your tuner or by using a Haltech.
